Directorate of Sports

Brief History

Directorate of sports was curved out of the Student Affairs Department in 2006. Its offices are in Block 26 staff quarters in the middle core of the university. The Directorate has a total staff strength of twenty-one made of eleven    Coaches, one   (1) Secretary, one (1) Store Officer, six (6) Groundsmen, one (1) Laborer and three (3) Casual Laborers. The Directorate is overseen by the Sports Committee.

Two (2) Tennis Courts
Two (2) Basketball Courts
Two (2) Volleyball Courts
Two (2) Handball Courts
One (1) Football Field
One(1) Track Field

Philosophy And Objectives

UAM believes that the ability to use SPORT effectively is an essential life skill in modern society.

THE ROLE OF THE SPORTS DIRECTORATE IN THE UNIVERSITY:

i) The coaches organize/coach both students and staff in their respective games.

ii) The coaches offer counselling services and prescribe exercises for health and physical    fitness for both staff and students.

iii) The coaches prepare both facilities, equipment, students and staff for competitions:– Intra-mural and inter-university competitions :– Inter-college games, NUGA, NUSSA Championships and W.A.U.G. Games
