PROFILE OF PROF. PAUL AUNDE ANNUNE
Prof. Pual Aunde Annune, a Professor of Fish Toxicology, a reputable Scholar and seasoned Administrator, was born at Shangev-Ya, Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State on October 2, 1958.
Professor Annune attended St. Joseph Primary School Mbape from 1967 – 1973. He attended Government Secondary School, Katsina-Ala from 1973 – 1978 where he obtained his west African School Certificate. He then proceeded to University of Sokoto where he read Zoology and obtained a B.Sc Hons degree in Zoology.
He obtained his M.Sc. Zoology at University of Ibadan in Fisheries and Hydrobiology. He further obtained his Ph.D in Fisheries from Ahmed Bello University in 1993. He attained the level of Professorship in October, 2003.
Prof. P. A Annune belongs to the Aquatic Society of Nigeria and Fisheries Society of Nigeria as member of these Professional bodies. He has for the past four decades worked in various capacities. It is work experience started in 1984 when he served in the National Youth Service Crops (NYSC). He worked as Educational Officer II, Tongov Community Secondary School Amarfu Benue State from August, 1985 – September 1986. Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Biology Science Ahamadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria from 1988 – 1991.
Also Lecturer II in 1991-1994. Senior Lecturer Department of Biological Science Benue State University Makurdi from 1994 – 1998. He joined the services of University of Agriculture, Makurdi in 1998 as Senior Lecturer in the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and rose to the rank of professor in the Department in October 2003.
He has served the University in various capacities and positions like, Head of Department Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of Agriculture from 1999-2002. Deputy Dean Post-Graduated School from 2002 – 2004. Dean College of Forestry and Fisheries 2004 – 2006. Member of University Governing Council 2005 – 2013. Director of linkages from 2008 – 2012.
Professor Anunne delivered the University’s 19th Inaugural Lecture on the theme “Aquatic pollution. A Torn in the fish on July 6th 2017.
He was appointed the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration.
