Nicodemus M. Useh, FRSB received Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria specializing in Clinical Pathology. After postdoctoral appointments by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Veterinary Medicine (TiHo) Foundation in Hannover and Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute, Jena all in Germany, he became a Reader at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He is a Scholar of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland, UK and received the Indian CV Raman fellowship in 2010 as a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Biotechnology, GB Pant University, Pantnagar, India. Professor Useh is a McArthur Scholar and received the DFG-TWAS fellowship for molecular typing of Clostridium chauvoei in Germany. The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offered him a Senior Postdoctoral Position at Justus Liebig University, Gieβen, Germany and in 2011, he received the highly prestigious United States of America J. William Fulbright Research award as a Visiting Professor at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, London, UK. In 2013, Useh moved to the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria as Professor and Chair, Department of Veterinary Pathology and Microbiology (2014-2018) in the College of Veterinary Medicine. Useh is currently the Director of Linkages in the same university. His research interests include Clostridium chauvoei pathogenesis, Clostridium difficile infection, leptospirosis, Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis, food borne pathogens and trypanosomosis.
