The IPPR is a directorate in the Vice Chancellor’s Office. It started as the PRO’s office when the University came into existence in 1988 with the primary function of disseminating information to the University Community and the public, as well as arranging passages for key officers of the University.
The University Administration changed the name of the unit in 2003 from Public Relation Officer’s Office to Information, Publication, Protocol and Public Relation (IPPR) Division to reflect the scope of functions that the office should undertake to meet up with increasing realities of management, growth & development.
The administrative Head of IPPR Division was a Deputy Registrar (DR) but the first & last Deputy Registrar who was head of IPPR retired from Service voluntarily in August 2003 and Mrs. Rosemary.K Waku who was then a Principal Assistant Registrar (PAR) became head of IPPR.
In December, 2015, Council of the University approved the upgrade of IPPR division to a directorate.
On the 4th April, 2017, Council again approved the appointment of Mrs. Rosemary K. Waku as director, Directorate of Information, Protocol and Public Relations.

Profile of Mrs. Rosemary Kpadoo Waku
Director, DIPPR; Mrs. Rosemary Kpadoo Waku (Nee Adzape) was born on May 8, 1964 and brought up in Gboko by her parents, HRH Chief James Ityowua Adzape (deceased), Ter Kwande II and Chief (Mrs.) Elizabeth Adzape.
She holds masters of Public Administration (MPA) certificate from Benue State University Makurdi, (BSU) 2008 ; Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Relation from the Nigeria Institute of Journalism Lagos (NIJ) 1993 and a Bachelor of Arts degree (B. A. Linguistics/English) from the University of Maiduguri (Unimaid) 1988).
She earlier studied at Kings Comprehensive College , Mkar where she obtained GCE o’level Certificate in 1982 and Saint John’s Primary School Gboko for her First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) 1977.
She has attended many workshops, short courses and conferences across the globe. Her professional Associations include, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relation (NIPR), Nigerian Institute of Training and Development (NITAD), Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrations (ANUPA)
Her hobbies are farming and community development.
Mrs. Waku is happily married to Senator JKN Waku and is blessed with three children, Gwaza, Sophie and Joy Waku.
PROFILE OF DR. J. D. FANAFA
Born 5th November 1962, Fanafa Joseph Dzerkaan hails from Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
Dr Fanafa started schooling at LGEA primary school Tor Donga, Katsina-Ala in 1976 and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. He then enrolled into the prestigious Bristow Secondary School Gboko, Benue State where he obtained his GCE/SC in 1981
Dr J. D. then proceeded to the University of Jos, Plateau State and got his National Diploma (ND) in Mass Communication in 1997. He then got admission into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and graduated with a B.A (Hons) Mass Communication in 2001.
In the quest to earn higher education, Dr J. D. Fanafa got admission into the prestigious Benue State University Makurdi, (BSU) and graduated with an M.Sc. Mass Communication in 2005 and also a Ph.D. in Mass Communication in 2017
Dr J. D. Fanafa, working experience which started in 1985 with Radio Benue Makurdi where he rose through the ranks from Assistant producer to Assistant Director of programmes with a break in between (2002-2007) to serve as Special Assistant/ Press Secretary to the Honourable Speaker Benue, Benue House of Assembly.
He joined the services of the University of Agriculture Makurdi on 2nd November, 2008as an SAR/PRO and has rose through the ranks to the position of Deputy Director, Directorate of Information, Protocol and Public Relations of the University.

Ngusha Aondoakaa was born to the family of Tyoor Aondoakaa Ugbudu in Lessel Township, Ushongo Local Government Area of Benue on the 31st of January, 1984.
