It has come to our notice that there is a message making the rounds on social media titled “Urgent Announcement” asking every Student who graduated within the past four years or currently undergoing training within the University to come to Information and Communication Technology Directorate to update their bio-data without which they will not have results or any proof of graduating from the University. Please note the following:

1. No such message has been sent to any student from the University. if and when we want to communicate to students and graduates, we have known official channels including this website.

2. According to the message, data was lost as a result of the death of one of our staff. While the first part is correct, the second which tied the loss of out staff to loss of data is completely false and at best malicious as no ICT staff keeps in his/her possession student’s data or the University’s academic records. Your records are very safe.

3. Students bio-data update is a continuous process and all students, especially those about graduating can keep coming to update their passport photograph and other information that may have changed.

4. There is therefore no need for anyone to travel down to the University to update any information.

5. Finally, please completely disregard the information as it is fake and has no iota of truth in it.
