The history of the Students’ Affairs Unit of the University is as old as the university itself. Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University went through a transition from Federal University of Technology, University of Jos, Makurdi Campus and University of Agriculture, Makurdi through October 17th 1980 through April 24th, 2021 when it became Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi via a legislative process that changed the name from Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
The Students’ Affairs Unit was established in April, 1988 when it became an autonomous university to among other things cater for the welfare of all students. These welfare issues relate to social, physical, emotional and political needs and this assignment has been effectively carried out by successive administrations. I am the 15th Dean of Students’ Affairs since the establishment of the Unit.
