Uam hands over project site to contractor

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture Makurdi, Professor A. R. Kimbir on Thursday, 5th July, 2018   officially handed over a 3.5 Megawatts solar electricity power project site from the Rural Electricity Agency (REA) to the contractor, Messrs Sterling & Wilson (Nig) Ltd.

Performing the handing-over ceremony in the company of REA and National Universities Commission (NUC) officials, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Administration, Professor P. A. Annune who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor thanked the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari for selecting the University of Agriculture Makurdi as one of the pilot beneficiaries of the project. The Vice-Chancellor also assured of the University’s co-operation for speedy completion of the project which he described as very crucial to the realization of the cardinal mandate of the University.

In his address, the representative of REA, Engr. Timothy Shekarau called on the Vice-Chancellor to carry along all the University stakeholders to ensure successful and timely completion of the project, according to him, the project when completed will be the only solar plant in Nigeria with the capacity to generate 3.5 Megawatts of electricity.

Responding on behalf of the contractor, Mr. Saudagar Kangude assured the Vice-Chancellor of their commitment to finishing the project within twelve months as stipulated in the terms of the contract.
