PROF. A. R. KIMBIR TALENT HUNT SPORT COMPETITION ENDS SUCCESSFULLY

The maiden edition of the Prof A. R Kimbir Talent Hunt Sports Competition came to a successful end, on Saturday 14th July, 2018. The sporting event is the brain child of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kimbir aimed at identifying and harnessing sporting talents among new students so as to nurture them for local, National and International University competitions.

At the closing ceremony, the Vice-chancellor, represented by the DVC Administration, Prof. P. A. Annune expressed delight at the success of the event. He observed that the objective of the Talent Hunt had been achieved as talents were identified by the technical team. He urged the athletes to shun all social vices and to subsequently take their training seriously as the administration is poised to engage the students positively by supporting sporting activities. Consequently, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the University sports Committee as well as sponsors of the event for its success and appealed for more sponsorship next session to make it more memorable.

Events featured at the competition were Football, volleyball, Basketball, Handball and Track races. At the end of the competition, the College of Food Science and Technology emerged overall best with five gold, one silver and two bronze medals. The College of Agronomy came second with two gold and four silver while the college of Animal Science came third with two gold, one silver and four bronze medals.

Highlights of the closing ceremony were the presentation of medals and trophies by the Vice-Chancellor and other principal Officers of the university to the various winners.
