Academic Planning

 

The Units of Academic planning was established in Nigerian Universities in the early 1980s in response to the need to coordinate and streamline academic polities and activities arising from the proliferation of programme, orderly academic development of each University. This orderly development by and large involves University, compliance with the Nigerian Universities Commission’s (NUC) Minimum Academic Standard. The units were however expanded into Directorates in the late 1990s.

 The Directorate of Academic Planning, University of Agriculture Makurdi, is an integrate part of the office of the Vice Chancellor and is directly responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day to day administration of the Directorate.

 The Directorate is charged with the performance of clearly defined duties which allow for uniform and purposeful academic growth and development of the University.

 


Philosophy And Objectives

The Directorate serves as a quantity and quality control organ in the university. It receives academic matters ad policies from NUC and uses same to guide and advice all appropriate sections of the University in the implementation of such matters and policies under the direction of the vice Chancellor and the University Senate. The Directorate also is concerned with obtained with obtaining relevant and accurate data for statistical processing and or generating relevant information to guide University management for accurate and timely decision-making on University matters.
